Excellent article. Fear (organizational fear) is common in many work environments and strongly works against the establishment of a supportive culture. The fear is usually as you describe: a fear of showing weakness, but there are other fears that occur: fear of revealing ignorance (which leads to bluffing and bad decisions), fear of seeming uncertain (which leads to jumping to conclusions and hast action, fear of showing compassion (because some view compassion as weakness), and so on.
